Induction and Mentoring Pilot Reports

The Council's Induction and Mentoring Pilot Programme comprised four sector-specific pilots and an external evaluation.  The pilot programme trialled the draft Guidelines for Induction and Mentoring and Mentor Teachers and models of support for beginning teachers.  A focus of the pilots was developing educative mentoring practices.

The pilot programme ran over 2009 and 2010.  The four reports from the pilot programme can be accessed below.

Induction and Mentoring Pilot Programme: Early Childhood Education. By Teachers, For Teachers

The early childhood education pilot was developed by New Zealand Kindergartens Inc.  The one-year pilot focused on regional workshops for mentor teachers and provisionally registered teachers (PRTs).  Over 100 mentors and PRTs from five kindergarten associations participated in the pilot in three regional areas - Dunedin-Southland, Nelson, and Wellington-Ruahine.  The workshops focused on exploring the draft Guidelines and developing mentoring skills.
