WORKING AS A TEACHER IN NZ
The Council's Registration Policy contains all of the relevant requirements, policies and processes relating to registration.
Many of these have already been in place for a number of years, and after extensive consultation since 2008, they are now presented for the first time together in one overarching document.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW AS PROFESSIONAL LEADER
As a professional leader, you will be overseeing a range of teaching staff at different stages in their career.
The Registration Policy is a useful document to help you to understand what it means to employ teachers who are provisionally registered, fully registered or registered subject to confirmation.
It also outlines the requirements for teachers to gain and maintain registration, and how the Council determines whether teachers meet these requirements. |
THE POLICY SECTIONS
Section One provides an overview and summary of the registration system.
NAVIGATE THE POLICY ONLINEClicking on the topical links from the microsite will direct you to the relevant sections of the Registration Policy.
The entire Policy can also be downloaded or read online from the microsite.

Key changes from 2012There are some key changes that will be effective in stages from 2012 and 2015. These are summarised in both the Changes Tab and in the appendix to the Policy. |
