Early Childhood Education Leadership
The New Zealand Teachers Council is undertaking a project to investigate and promote leadership in early chidhood education settings. The first stage is a discussion paper investigating how leadership is conceptualised in the early childhood education sector in New Zealand.

Māori Medium Research
This research programme has involved an environmental scan of Māori medium ITE programmes conducted by Haemata Ltd., and a second stage literature review of national and international reserach.
In 2006, the Council conducted a telephone survey of Tumuaki of a sample of Kura Kaupapa Māori to investigate issues relating to registration of pouako. The results have been published as a Council occasional paper.
Tātaiako is a resource explaining competencies teachers need to develop so they can help Māori learners achieve educationally as Māori. It was developed by the Ministry of Education, Te Pouherenga Kaiako o Aotearoa New Zealand Teachers Council and a reference group of academics, teacher education practitioners and iwi representatives involved in iwi educational initiatives.
